The Bank Holiday death toll has risen to five following an accident at Aughnacliffe in Co Longford today.

A man in his early twenties died when his motorbike crashed into wall.

The name of the young man is not being released until his next of kin have been informed.

He is the fifth person to die on Irish roads this bank holiday weekend after a woman and her young daughter died in a road accident on the Cork road near Killarney, Co Kerry yesterday and two others died in separate road accidents over the weekend.

Gardai are warning motorists to slow down as they make their return home following the long weekend.
