Six new towns to get CCTV cameras

Justice Minister John O’Donoghue has announced plans to install closed-circuit television cameras in six town centres by the end of this year in an effort to reduce street crime and alcohol-related violence.

Justice Minister John O’Donoghue has announced plans to install closed-circuit television cameras in six town centres by the end of this year in an effort to reduce street crime and alcohol-related violence.

The minister also said another 11 towns will get CCTV next year as part of a multi-million euro investment. Mr O’Donoghue unveiled these plans at a conference of garda sergeants and inspectors last night.
