Representatives of SIPTU and the Irish Nurses Organisation are in separate meetings this afternoon to discuss proposals submitted by the Labour Relations Commission in connection with the dispute in accident and emergency units.

The two unions have urged their members to endorse the proposals. SIPTU’s Oliver McDongah said, under the deal, nurses will be allowed to make use of beds outside the A&E units when the units themselves become overcrowded.
