President slams fall in overseas aid from rich countries

President Mary McAleese has used the annual Trocaire lecture to denounce the fall in aid from rich countries to developing nations.

Mrs McAleese said it is "sickening" that the average aid package in developed countries has fallen to 0.22% of GDP, compared to the UN target of 0.7% of GNP.
