Girl, 14, charged in connection with teen's murder
Police have charged a 14-year-old girl in connection with the murder of a teenager who was stabbed to death.
The girl was charged with assisting a 16-year-old boy, accused of knifing to death 18-year-old Brendan McCabe in front of his mother in a busy Co Down street in broad daylight on Thursday.
She is due to appear at Armagh juvenile court on Monday.
The 16-year-old charged with murder, who cannot be named for legal reasons, yesterday lunged at a magistrate and screamed obscenities as violence erupted in at court in Banbridge, Co Down.
Four police officers were needed to pull the accused away when he lashed out in a bid to break free and get at magistrate Paul Copeland.
Two other teenagers - a 16-year-old boy and a 17-year-old girl - also appeared on charges of assisting the accused.
The three are due to appear again at Newry courthouse on March 6.
