No resolution to ASTI's substitution and teaching row
Last ditch talks between the education Minister Michael Woods and representatives of the ASTI have failed to bring about a resolution to the row over substitution and teaching.
Numerous schools around the country face disruption next Monday when the ASTI's 17,000 members begin a work-to-rule.
A contingency plan to prevent closures is expected to fall short of the TUI's decision to also withdraw cooperation. The General Secretary of the ASTI Charlie Lenihan, claims the Government has had more than enough time to resolve this row.
