€8.2m health plan launched for travellers

The Minister for Health is to launch a traveller health strategy this afternoon in an effort to ensure that members of the travelling community have better access to health services.

The Government has approved additional funding of €8.2m to enable the implementation of the plan.

The Pavee Point Travellers Centre has welcomed the move.

Spokesperson Kathleen Joyce said it would mean that GPs could no longer refuse to see travellers with a medical card.
