FG challenges Labour over alleged promise to Nick Kelly
Fine Gael’s Billy Timmons has asked the Labour Party to confirm if it has promised €300m to Co Wicklow if Councillor Nick Kelly is elected for Labour in the constituency.
Reports yesterday suggested that Labour leader Ruairi Quinn has offered the constituency a hospital, a third-level college and a decentralised government department if Mr Kelly is elected and if Labour is part of the next Government.
Mr Timmons said: "I think it’s proper that the constituents should know what exactly are the details of this deal.
"I’m calling on the Labour leadership to confirm that the deal has been put in place and I would also like to know if the deal apparently is contingent on Councillor Kelly being elected and Labour going into government."
