Wind and hydro power plants get go-ahead

The Irish landscape is set to change over the coming years, following today's government approval for a number of wind and hydro energy plants.

It is estimated that the energy by these plants will be enough to supply 250,000 homes.

Announcing the details of the new plan, Minister of State Joe Jacob said the benefits of sustainable resources far outweigh fears that wind farms will spoil the landscape.
