ESB engineers are currently working to restore power to an estimated 25,000 homes following violent overnight storms.

Heavy rain and high winds have cut electricity supplies in parts of Cork, Kerry, Waterford, Dublin and along the west coast, as well as in isolated areas throughout Ireland.
