Man injured in Co Limerick shooting

A man in his 40s is in a stable condition in hospital this morning after being shot in his house in Ballyneety, Co Limerick.

The victim is understood to have contacted the gardai himself following the incident, which happened at around 3am.

Gardai said he was found at the bottom of the stairs and may have been shot after answering his front door.

The scene has been preserved for technical examination.
