New food safety initiative to be announced

A new food safety initiative is being launched. It will train those working in the Food Industry how to comply with safety laws.

Last year 50 businesses were closed for breaching food safety guidelines, doubling the figure for 2000.

Annette Sweeney, a Food Safety Educator, has said the in-house training will be easy to implement and has said the problem has affected many sectors, from hotels to supermarkets.
