Postmaster treated for gunshot wounds after robbery

A postmaster is being treated in hospital for gunshot wounds following an armed robbery in Kilcullen, Co Kildare, this morning.

Two raiders armed with a shotgun entered the post office in the town shortly after 10am and discharged at least one shot before fleeing empty-handed on a stolen Suzuki motorcycle.

The post master suffered pellet wounds to his shoulder during the incident.

Gardai are investigating.
