A man was today charged with the manslaughter of his partner, who disappeared without trace in Cork more than eight years ago.

A man was today charged with the manslaughter of his partner, who disappeared without trace in Cork more than eight years ago.

Timothy O’Driscoll was accused of the unlawful killing of Michelle McCormack at Skibbereen District Court.

He was also charged with assaulting Ms McCormack and, at Kinsale Harbour, Co Cork, preventing her lawful burial.

Mother-of-one Ms McCormack disappeared from a holiday caravan and camping site near Clonakilty in July 1993 and despite widespread publicity and lengthy land and sea searches by police, she was never found.

O’Driscoll, of Macroom, Co Cork, was remanded in custody for a week.

Ms McCormack of Mayfield, was holidaying with Mr O'Driscoll and her daughter at the time of her disappearance.
