Mountaineering accident claims two lives

Two rock climbers have been killed in a mountaineering accident in the MacGillycuddy Reeks, Co Kerry.

Two rock climbers have been killed in a mountaineering accident in the MacGillycuddy Reeks, Co Kerry.

Another climber has been rushed to hospital for treatment to injuries he sustained in the accident.

The alarm was raised at about 3:20 pm. when four climbers got into difficulties and Kerry Mountain Rescue were called into action.

The rescue helicopter from Shannon was called out an air lifted the injured man to Tralee General Hospital but the extent of his injuries are not yet known.

It is not yet known where the four men were from and what their names or ages are.
