Abortion referendum to take place before Easter

The Taoiseach has confirmed that the abortion referendum will take place before Easter.

Bertie Ahern said that the cabinet will meet shortly to arrange a date for the vote but it is clear that Fianna Fail’s partners in Government, the Progressive Democrats, strongly support the referendum proposals.
