1,100 held in drink-driving crackdown

Gardai arrested more than 1,100 people as part of the Christmas crack-down on drink-driving, according to figures released today.

A total of 1,109 motorists were detained as part of the annual operation, representing a rise of more than 20% on last year’s figure of 875.
