People anxious to use new currency

The chairman of the Euro Changeover Board says the currency is facing its first major test as Irish business returns in the wake of the festive break.

A six week dual currency period is now in operation with the euro operating alongside the punt.

Philip Hamill says early indications are that people are anxious to start using the new currency.

He is calling for patience to prevail during the introduction period.
