Euro facing first true test in Ireland

Government ministers were breathing sighs of relief today after a so-smooth launch of the euro currency.

But officials conceded that the true test of the move’s success would come this morning, when many businesses opened their doors for the first time since the long-awaited and carefully-choreographed Changeover Day.
