Sub-zero temperatures expected overnight

Met Eireann has warned the public to brace itself for another cold night, with temperatures expected to plummet to as low as -8C.

The north and north-west are expected to experience the lowest temperatures, but freezing conditions will prevail countrywide.

The weather is expected to improve after New Year’s Day.
