Fine Gael has criticised the Government for giving more money to social welfare recipients than to public service pensioners.

The party’s policy director, Richard Bruton, said the State should develop minimum benchmarks for these pensioners “so that both their basic pay levels and the additional assistance like free electricity would be made available on a fair basis”.
