MOX plants opens at Sellafield
The controversial MOX plant has opened at Sellafield today.
The BNFL has been given the green light from the British Government’s safety monitor to begin reprocessing nuclear fuel.
The Green Party are staging a protest at the opening.
The protest group has travelled from Ireland to take part in peaceful demonstrations.
Minister with Responsibility for Nuclear Safety, Joe Jacob, has said the opening of the plant is an act of supreme arrogance by the British.
Jacob belives the resolve of the Government to proceed with three separate legal challenges to the mixed oxide facility is now strengthened.
Green Party TD, John Gormley, who is travelling with the Group to Sellafield, has said they want their protest to be taken seriously.
