SDLP seeks implementation of Omagh recommendations

The SDLP has called for urgent changes to the North’s new police service after meeting with Police Ombudsman Nuala O’Loan this afternoon.

During the meeting, the SDLP delegation discussed Ms O’Loan’s report into the handling of the police investigation into the Omagh bombing in 1998. Her report was highly critical of the RUC Special Branch and RUC chief constable Ronnie Flanagan.

Speaking after the meeting, SDLP spokeswoman Patricia Lewsley, who is also a member of the Police Board, said Ms O’Loan’s recommendations must be implemented.
