Northern Ireland’s new policing structures were today under strain as Chief Constable Ronnie Flanagan threatened to take legal action against the Police Ombudsman to clear his name after a damning report on the Omagh bomb.

Northern Ireland’s new policing structures were today under strain as Chief Constable Ronnie Flanagan threatened to take legal action against the Police Ombudsman to clear his name after a damning report on the Omagh bomb.

Mr Flanagan warned he may go to the High Court after a report by Ombudsman Nuala O’Loan accused him and his colleagues of flawed judgment and damaging the chances of arresting the Omagh bomb suspects.
