Taoiseach says refugees can almost certainly stay

The Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern, has said the five refugees who survived in a container transported to Ireland at the weekend will almost certainly be allowed to stay.

“These people have suffered enough and their applications will be dealt with very sympathetically here,” he said.
