CSO reveals huge jump in Live Register figures

The Central Statistics Office has revealed that an extra 7,500 people, the majority of them under the age of 25, signed on the dole last month.

The seasonally adjusted Live Register figures show that more than 147,000 jobless people are now claiming state benefits.
