The British government faced calls today from republicans to release its plans for a rolling programme of demilitarisation following moves by the IRA to put its weapons beyond use.

Sinn Fein Assembly member Conor Murphy, Stormont colleague and MP Michelle Gildernew and Councillor Barry Monteith claimed rather than delivering on a promise to scale down military installations and activity following the IRA’s weapons move, there had been an increase in security forces’ activity.
