Pensioners, parents and health service win in McCreevy Budget

Pensioners, parents, those on social welfare, drinkers, gamblers and the health service were amongst the winners in Charlie McCreevy's fifth budget.

The Minister for Finance delivered one of the shortest budget speeches in history this afternoon, running just under 45 minutes and despite warnings of prudence, it did contain some give-aways ahead of next year's election.
