Soldier shot in Co Wicklow training accident

A 19-year-old soldier from Dublin is in intensive care in hospital this afternoon after he was accidentally shot during training in the Glen of Imaal in Co Wicklow last night.

A 19-year-old soldier from Dublin is in intensive care in hospital this afternoon after he was accidentally shot during training in the Glen of Imaal in Co Wicklow last night.

Francis Carolan was shot when a colleague accidentally discharged live ammunition.

He subsequently underwent surgery at Tallaght Hospital and is under close observation today.
