A terrorist strike on the Sellafield nuclear plant could cause a catastrophe far worse than the Chernobyl disaster, the SDLP annual conference heard today.

South Down MP Eddie McGrady spelt out the potential calamity close to Irish waters as he urged Britain's Prime Minister Tony Blair to shut down the controversial reprocessing site.
