First and deputy ministers elections face second DUP challenge

The DUP is taking a second legal action against the election of the First and Deputy First Ministers, David Trimble and Mark Durkan.

The DUP's two Stormont ministers, Nigel Dodds and Peter Robinson began the high court action demanding new elections so they would be able to re-negotiate the Good Friday Agreement.

The party also want a declaration that Mr Trimble and Mr Durkan were not lawfully elected.

Meanwhile the UUP has taken action against its two dissident members who did not vote for Mr Trimble's re-election as First Minister. Pauline Armitage has been suspended from the party while Peter Weir has been expelled.
