Loyalists may suspend Ardoyne protest

The loyalist protestors outside the Catholic Holy Cross primary school in north Belfast may suspend their demonstration for one day while the schoolgirls sit their 11-plus exams.

The protestors have said they will consider calling off the action on Friday because of the exams.

With the protest free of any incidents today, representatives of the residents said the atmosphere has improved.

Jim Potts, a spokesman for the Concerned Residents of Upper Ardoyne, said: "I expect a decision to be made tomorrow."
