Body found in west Cork
Gardai in west Cork are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a man whose body was found in suspicious circumstances at a house at Coole Mountain near Dunmanway.
Garda crime examiners are at the scene and the body has been removed to Cork University Hospital. It’s understood the 59-year-old man who lived alone hadn’t been seen for a number of days. Last night, members of his family and a neighbour broke down the door of his house and found the dead man’s body.
Gardai were called to the scene following the discovery and local technical officers have carried out an examination.
Forensic experts and local Garda officers have decided to call in assistant state pathologist Dr Margaret Bolster to carry out a post-mortem examination as a precaution.
It’s understood there was no sign of forced entry into the house and a garda spokesman said the dead man’s body had no noticeable injuries. Gardai say at the moment they are not looking for anyone in connection with the death.
