Arrest over Dail cannabis stunt

A man has been arrested in connection with the posting of a substance believed to be cannabis to every TD and Senator at Leinster House.

The arrival of the suspected joints was quickly spotted by officials sifting through the mail, as part of the anthrax scare.

Campaigner for the legalisation of cannabis Luke Flanagan, better known as Ming the Merciless, was quick to claim responsibility. He claims to have sent more than 200 in the post, but so far only eight have made their way to gardai.

This afternoon, a 29-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident.

Meanwhile, a spokesman for the Minister for Justice, John O’Donoghue, who like other cabinet colleagues has yet to receive his alleged joint, says there are no plans to legalise cannabis or any other drugs.
