Telephone talks aim to save political institutions
The leader of Northern Ireland’s Alliance Party was holding telephone talks today with the British and Irish Governments and other pro-Agreement parties before the deadline for saving the North's political institutions.
The new crisis began when Ulster Unionist leader David Trimble and SDLP Leader Mark Durkan failed to get elected to the top two posts in the power sharing government, despite securing 70% support.
