Couple deny bomb charges

A husband and wife tonight appeared in court on charges linked to a 130lb bomb find in Northern Ireland.

The couple, Stephen John Daly and his wife Helen Marie Daly, from Glenaness Road, Sixmilecross, denied the charges.

The were both remanded in custody to appear before the court on November 13.

The fully primed device was discovered on Tuesday at a house in Sixmilecross, Co Tyrone - 11 miles from Omagh where dissident republican terrorists murdered 29 people three years ago.

The couple have been accused of possessing explosives with intent to endanger life.

They appeared at a special sitting of Omagh Magistrates Court, an RUC spokesman said.

During follow-up searches linked to the find another man and woman were detained in the Newtownbutler area of Co Fermanagh.
