Minister for Health defends healthcare system
The Minister for Health, Michael Martin, has warned that the new National Health Strategy, which is to be published in the near future, will not bring about an immediate impact.
Speaking at the Fianna Fail Ard Fheis today Deputy Martin warned party members not to expect the strategy to provide short-term results.
He also defended the Government’s achievements on the issue of healthcare, claiming that the suggestion that no progress had been made was a myth.
The next general election is expected to focus on the issue of health as one of the key areas of contention.
