5ive member convicted of Dublin pub assault

A member of the former boy-band 5ive has been convicted of assaulting a Dublin man in a pub last December.

Jason ('J') Brown was given the benefit of the Probation Act and ordered to pay £5,000 to a special fund at the Childrens Hospital in Dublin.

Brown's boyband, who split up two weeks ago, were at the end of their world tour on December 20 when the incident occured in the Palace Bar on Fleet St.

Mr Brown admitted that he had a lot of drink taken, when he entered the pub with a group of friends.

He said he was teased by a group about the band - and fearful that something might develop of a violent nature - he struck Dubliner Finan Gallagher.

Mr Gallagher claims Brown was abusive and obnoxious and said that the only thing he had said to him was "Who is 5ive?".
