Cowen backs military action against Afghanistan

Foreign Minister Brian Cowen has come out in support of last night’s attacks on Afghanistan, saying the Taliban regime brought the air strikes on itself by failing to hand over Osama bin Laden.

The US had demanded that bin Laden be handed over to them but the Taliban said he would only be extradited to a neutral country and only if the US provided evidence of his involvement in the September 11 attacks.
