A 17-year-old girl is recovering in hospital today after an arson attack on her family home in Portadown, Co Antrim last night.

The girl was alone in the house when a gang of men forced their way in and set the house on fire.

Detectives believe the house was attacked because the girl’s father is a prison officer.

Meanwhile, the RUC is also investigating a shooting at a popular Belfast city centre bar last night.

A man opened fire with a shotgun on Lavery’s Bar, in Bradbury Place, from a passing car, but no customers or staff were injured.
