Sargent is new Green leader

Trevor Sargent TD has been elected as the first leader of the Green Party.

In his leadership acceptance speech Deputy Sargent vowed to increase the

party representation in the next Dail.

He says the Greens have begun a process of restructuring and reorganising and must prepare a shopping list for Government.

Deputy Sargent says the shopping list will be the Greens contract for

Government. He adds that voters must be made aware that there is an

alternative to the other parties.
