Murdered journalist buried in Lurgan
More than 1,000 people turned out for the funeral of murdered journalist Martin O’Hagan in Lurgan, Co Armagh this afternoon.
Newspaper editors, TV executives, senior politicians and trade unionists were all among the mourners as the investigative reporter was laid to rest.
Mr O’Hagan was shot dead near his home in Lurgan late on Friday night.
The murder was claimed by the Red Hand Defenders, a cover-name for an alliance of loyalists who are supposed to be on ceasefire.
Despite this claim, the RUC has said the Loyalist Volunteer Force is the prime suspect.
Mr O’Hagan spent the last number of years investigating the LVF and in particular its ties to the drugs world.
