Fine Gael has called for Junior Minister Joe Jacob to be sacked after he was unable to explain how Ireland would react if it came under attack.

Fine Gael has called for Junior Minister Joe Jacob to be sacked after he was unable to explain how Ireland would react if it came under attack.

Mr Jacob is the minister with responsibility for national emergency planning, but in an interview on national radio, he was unable to give details of any such plan.

Fine Gael’s Charlie Flanagan said the interview was a "disgraceful show of incompetence" and Mr Jacob ended up frightening more people than he reassured.
