Glanbia drops plans to raise milk prices

Ireland’s largest milk producer, Glanbia, has done a u-turn on its decision to raise the price of milk when the euro is introduced in January.

Yesterday, the company announced that plans to replace pint cartons with smaller 500ml cartons without lowering the price.

Consumer Affairs Minister Tom Kitt said the price rise was a blatant attempt to cash in on the euro changeover and Glanbia decided to back down on its plans.
