IRA statement welcomed by Trimble

The leader of the Ulster Unionist Party, David Trimble, has welcomed the latest statement from the IRA that renews its commitment to step up its discussions with the international decommissioning body headed by General John De Chastelain.

Mr Trimble stressed that the IRA announcement must be supported by action in order to make the statement credible.
