Three Irish Missing in New York Attack

Fears are growing for the safety of three Irish people missing since the attack on the World Trade Centre in New York on Tuesday.

The Department of Foreign Affairs said four Irish people are confirmed dead but more are unaccounted for.

Three Irish people listed as missing are: Anne Marie McHugh from Tuam, Co Galway, Martin Coughlan, Cappawhite, Tipperary and Ciaran Gorman of Sligo.

Department of Foreign Affairs officials are working around the clock trying to trace those missing since Tuesday’s devastating attack. But the painstaking task is taking time as rescuers try to recover victims from the rubble in New York.

Already it has been confirmed that four Irish people have lost their lives in the tragedy. Ruth McCourt and her four-year-old daughter, Juliana, Dublin man, Patrick Currivan and Fr Michael Judge who was in one of the towers.
