Aer Rianta will appeal imposed airport charges

Aer Rianta has said it will appeal the charges imposed on it yesterday by the Aviation Regulator.

The charges will increase by almost 20% at Shannon and Cork, and fall by 5% at Dublin airport.

The airport authority earlier described the measures as being ‘fundamentally flawed’.

Aer Rianta Chairman Noel Hanlon says the proposed charges will turn Irish airports into those as seen in a banana republic.

He added that Aer Rianta has the power to appeal the charges, and will exercise its right to do so.
