Thai police investigate rape of two Irish tourists
Thai police are investigating the alleged rape of two Irish women on the holiday island of Koh Samui.
Police say they were raped by two Thai men and suffered minor injuries.
It is believed that the women, both 23, were followed by the men as they walked along a beach on the way back to their chalet.
The men, described as about 25-years-old, are believed to have jumped the girls from behind.
Reports said that one of the women fought back and managed to bite her attacker in the shoulder but they were both overpowered and pulled into a wooded area.
The men fled when they were disturbed by a passer-by.
The women were found wandering in a confused and distressed condition by local police who informed the British Embassy.
A police spokesman said: "The women have now been taken to the town of Surathani to help form a photo-fit. They were raped by two Thai men who spoke good English.
"The women suffered minor injuries in the struggle. They have been taken to hospital for an examination."
