Grenade found in Cork home
The Emergency Response Unit was called out last night to defuse a live grenade found at a house in Dunmanway in Co Cork.
The grenade, which dates back to the War of Independence, was found in the attic of a house.
Paul Connors of the Army Press Office described it as a lethal device.
"The condition of the bomb last night was safe, but grenades like this are usually found in damp and wet conditions," he said.
"Bombs like this tend to deteriorate quickly in these conditions and become very unstable, and they do pose a huge threat to the public."
