It has emerged that an Irish tourist was among the 13 people injured in today’s car bomb explosion in Spain.

It has emerged that an Irish tourist was among the 13 people injured in today’s car bomb explosion in Spain.

The bomb went off at eight o’clock local time outside the Cala Font hotel in Salou, a popular tourist destination.

Police had to evacuate several hundred guests, mostly British and Italian tourists.

The injured were hit by debris and suffered minor cuts and bruises.

The Basque separatist group ETA is thought to be responsible for the bomb.

Meanwhile, the Department of Foreign Affairs is reminding Irish sun-seekers to be vigilant and to co-operate with Spanish authorities.
